Tumblers Lightning Cure Coating Epoxy 1 Hour Cure | Food-Safe, Non-Yellowing Resin for Tumblers and Other Coating Applications
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
1- This formula is unlike any other product we manufacture or that is on the market currently. Because of this, it will not behave in the same manner as other products you have used. One major difference is it has a urethane backbone and as with all urethane products it is very moisture sensitive. We do not recommend using this product when it is humid.
2- This product must be stored indoors in a dark and dry place, ideally between 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Never leave your bottles open. Clean the neck of the bottles after every use with a clean dry paper towel. Do not use water, if you use alcohol on the paper towel make sure it is at least 90% pure. Ideal room temperature for using this is 75 degrees Fahrenheit, do not deviate more than 5 degrees from this in either direction.
3- This product has a shelf life of 30 days. Use it before that time frame. This formula will still be usable after 30 days but final results may vary. We only offer smaller kit sizes due to this fact. If you only make one or two cups every once in a while this might not be the resin for you.
4- Moisture is not the only thing to watch out for. Off gassing from other products can lead to issues as well. If using this formula over hydro dipped cups, cups with modge podge, water based inks, spray paint or other similar products. Allow a minimum of 24 hours dry time before applying this formula over the listed products and/or others.
5- If you are sanding your cups in-between layers and you clean them with a liquid, make sure it is only alcohol and it is at least 90% alcohol. The purer the less water it has in the formula. Allow the alcohol to dry for at least 1 hour before applying Lightning Cure.
6- Never transfer this formula into a different container. It can lead to cross contamination with a cleaning agent used on the new bottle or even condensation in the bottle.
7- When mixing a batch, use all new mixing cups and sticks. Do not reuse, especially if it was used with a different formula. When applying, do so in thinner coats. Pay extra close attention to build up on the bottom of the tumbler. Lay down 1-2 layers before applying a vinyl and 1-2 layers after the vinyl. Ensure there is absolutely no air under the vinyl, and that there is no puckering. This is also something to look out for with glitter, chunky ones especially. Always use a torch, not just a heat gun to pop the bubbles on your cup when applying the Lightning Cure.
8-We do not advise adding any additional agent/s to the formula when mixing. We do not recommend using this formula with any other epoxy resins from another company. As we do not know their exact chemical composition and how that will interact with our formula. If you do, it is at your own risk. Do not add anything to thin it out or thicken out the formula. Also avoid any artificial heating techniques including but not limited to a heat bath. Do not artificially heat your tumblers to speed up the dry time with this formula.
9- Additional points to take into consideration are adhesives like with wraps, they may heat up during the curing process which can lead to off gassing. Also, metal cups are very susceptible to thermal shock. This is expansion and contraction due to heat and cold. Epoxy with have a different rate of expansion and shrinkage when compared to a metal cup. This can lead to separation of the epoxy from the cup. The temperature range on finished products with this formula are 20-165 degrees Fahrenheit.
Note: The resin will have a slight yellow hue in the bottle (that's part of our secret formula to cure lightning fast). When mixed properly and applied it will cure completely clear, no yellow on your final product!
On average you can expect a 16oz kit to cover 4+ cups and the 32oz 8+ cups. Note that this formula due to its fast cure times and UV protection does have a slight color to it in the bottles, This is normal and it will cure crystal clear.

Additional Information:
Tumblers Lightning Cure Coating Epoxy Resin is a clear polymer used for tumblers, cups, coating wood, veneer, metal, stone, painted surfaces, tabletops, bar tops, many other surfaces to give a rich super gloss look and protect from scratching and air humidity.
The typical pot life of Tumblers Lightning Cure Coating Epoxy Resin is approximately 10-15 minutes based on mass and temperature. It will be "tack free" within 30 minutes and the full cure is 1-2 hours at normal conditions!
Mixing/Application:
Mix this resin 1:1 by volume. DO NOT MIX LARGE VOLUMES WITH THIS FORMULA TO AVOID FLASH CURING IN THE MIXING CONTAINER. Mix up to 50ml per batch.
Smoothly mix for at least 1 minute until the chemical is clear and free of striations. Pour/apply immediately to your project. Apply slightly thicker to avoid dimples if you see them. This can be used as a base coat, it can be built up with multiple layers and used as a top coat.
Storage:
This chemical needs to be stored in a dry, safe, temperature-controlled environment. Always keep the lids tightly sealed when not in use. Remember, oxygen and moisture oxidize and can rapidly degrade the epoxy and hardener. Moisture is also a potential issue. Always keep the bottles sealed when not in use.
Safety:
When applying this product, use gloves, goggles, and proper safety equipment. Please refer to the safety data sheet before using any of our epoxy products.
Pro Tips:
If mixing by weight, mix 100 parts of resin into 100 parts of hardener. When mixing this product, make sure to use a round cup & mix thoroughly scraping all sides and bottom of the mixing container. Improperly mixed epoxy can create a major headache.
Cold weather slows the curing process down, whereas heat speeds curing up. Always try to mix chemicals at room temperature. For best results, try pouring epoxy into the hardener. Pour along the side of the container to help reduce microbubble creation.
You will receive part A epoxy and part B curing agent (measured by weight), full instructions, and outstanding customer support with every purchase.
