Follow Along Video, Let's Create Seascape Resin Art!

Melissa of @fieryfordeepblue demonstrates her process for creating unique seascape art with our Platinum Clear Epoxy Resin!

These are the things we need:

***Prep: We started with a pre-treated canvas. We painted it and allowed it to dry. See in step 4. Make sure to spend some time leveling out your workspace and the canvas prior to starting this project.

Step 1:

We start by mixing parts A & B of our Platinum Epoxy resin. This is a 1:1 ratio epoxy resin. We mix equal parts of part A and part B here.

Slowly stir and scrape both the bottom and edges of the mixing cup for approximately 2-5 minutes, then we should be ready to move to the next step.

***Make sure there are no spots within the mixing cup that have not been scraped and mixed correctly.

Step 2:

Divide the epoxy mixtures into several different cups. Think about the different tones you want. Deeper darker colors to lighter & brighter. One cup should remain clear.

Step 3 :

Mix in your favorite pigment color into the cups individually. Mix slowly & thoroughly into the epoxy resin mixture.

Step 4:

Apply the first coat of clear epoxy mixture as a seal coat on the canvas.

***Note, we started with an aubrey colored canvas that was pre-treated the day prior. This can be done with spray paints or canvas paints too.

Step 5:

Pour the colored epoxy mixtures in your own artistic way. We used a layering technique. Starting with the dark on the dark end and lightening it up towards the lighter colored side of the canvas.

Step 6:

Use a heat gun to 1. smooth out the bubbles and 2. merge the colors together. More heat will make the epoxy resin mixture more viscous (watery) and it will move more. Practice your artistry here.

Step 7:

Let it dry and cure for 24 hours at 75F.

***Keep an eye out on it for the 1st twenty to 40 minutes checking for imperfections (bubbles) that may rise to surface. A little heat from the heat gun should remove it.

***Having a clean cover to place over the canvas is helpful if you are in an area with a lot of dust or possible bugs. Nothing like seeing a mosquito stuck in your canvas the next day. 😰

We hope you enjoyed and learned a lot from this.
